Valjouan

17 February, 1814

A successful Austro-Russian advance deep into France by Field Marshal Karl Schwarzenberg was halted brutally at Valjouan.

Firstly one of its main forces was smashed at Mormant and then the advance guard of General Wrede was attacked at Valjouan by Marshal Grouchy and General Gerard.

The French made short work of the invaders and sent them hurrying backwards.

Casualities for the Allies were some 4500 men, while the French suffered 600 losses.
